Renewable Energy: Policy and Development
July 1 – August 4, 2013
The University of Bonn, Northwestern and Arcadia Universities
invite excellent undergraduates to a new interdisciplinary program on renewable energies. The program introduces students to numerous facets of renewable energy policy and development as responses to today’s climate and energy problems. Students will explore and discuss technologies and their implications with professionals. Bonn is closely associated with renewable energy and is a hub for institutions in this field such as 16 UN agencies and international think tanks. Its location allows to draw on a range of well-known institutions like the National Research Center Jülich. In 2008, the City of Bonn received the European Energy Award in Gold and was certified again in 2011.
The program offers:
- a combination of coursework, guest lectures and excursions to NGOs, research institutions, and renewable energy sights
- students work on energy related group projects, guided by professionals from the respective fields
- the program is conducted in English but students take a class on German culture and language
- a five day excursion to Berlin will give students the opportunity to gain further insight into renewable energy policies as well as recent German history and culture
