Three years of course and research work
15th January for national and international students (honors). Selected applicants will be invited for an admissions academy (March/April). Decisions will be announced by 1st April. 15th June for Bonn and Cologne students (honors) No fixed deadlines for other applicants.
|Description of Content
All graduate studies at our department are coordinated by the Bonn Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy (BCGS) Scientific interests are centered on activities in experimental and theoretical particle, astroparticle and nuclear physics, quantum optics and condensed matter physics. The Ph.D. program involves three years of research-oriented thesis work leading to a doctoral degree in the fields of Physics.
In addition the BCGS offers a limited number of partial scholarships (300 Euro per month).

|Cost of Living||The average monthly costs of living, including accommodation, food, books, and medical insurance amount to about EUR 700.|
The International Office (assistance in finding accommodation and support with administrative formalities), mentor system (individual academic counselling), tutor system (studying in small learning groups), cultural and social program (excursions, visits etc.) and intensive German language courses.
|Job Opportunities||Ph.D. students are generally paid from the funds of their research group.|
|Admission Requirements||Language Requirements: Toefl-test 80 points (internet-based) or equivalent
Master of Science in Physics
Some students may be admitted to a Qualifying Period of up to 1 year, before regular PhD studies.

Learning how to perform cutting-edge research in physics. Publication of the results of the research in refereed scientific journals.
